Oscar is one of the last farmers in our very built up suburban town, still does things his old way. His 20 acres is surrounded by condos and big box stores, that's a Walmart roof in the background.

I always wanted to get a picture of him with his old ford, said it's an 8N, he's well into his 90's and told me he bought this new in 1948.
I thought he might not let me take his picture, but he's kind of a celebrity as the local papers have done stories on him, I think he likes it more than he lets on.

I tried to explain to him about TBN, but he could not get the concept of an on line tractor forum. I often wonder what these guys could offer here with all their experiences.

One of my neighbors will be celebrating his 85th birthday soon. He still is spry enough to climb into the saddle of his venerable JD 2640.

While at a family reunion this past summer, I showed a scanned & reprinted photo from an old album to my second cousin from Williamstown, VT. In it, my older brother (now 65) was about 6 years old and sitting on a new or nearly new John Deere, perhaps a model B.

In typical VT fashion, my cousin simply said, "Yep, still got it. Still use it." I was amazed. Hope mine lasts as long!!

Great pictures! I'll bet he's got a story or two, eh?

Thanks for sharing the pictures and the story of your neighbor. If you want to explain a forum to him, tell him it's like folks gathering at the old hardware store or feed mill to share info, tell stories, and check up on each other, except we do it in a computer now.
