Vine hooked on bush hog...

I'm clearing land using my bush hog. I was backing into an area, squeezing the hog through two close trees, no problem. I pulled forward and had a 1.5" thick vine hooked on the wheel on the bush hog.

This caused me to do the highest tractor wheelie of my life. The only thing that saved me was the bush hog acting as a wheelie bar. I hit the clutch and bounced that front end..

Did I do something wrong or was it bad luck?

Anything you pull behind the tractor that is NOT hooked to the real drawbar will result in a "wheelie" if the tractor gets enough of a grip with the rear tires. Many a tractor came the whole way up and over when someone unaware of this tendency wrapped a chain around the rear axle to yank something that really didn't want to move.

I said "real drawbar" to differentiate between it and the ones you can get at TSC that go between the 3PH arms. The 3PH arms just hinge up under a hard pull that lifts the front of the tractor.

Is that a pic of a K 245? I used to have a 245DT, boy do I miss it.
Beware, you can lift the front wheels even when pulling from the ridged drawbar.

Has anyone ever made a wheelie bar for there tractor?

I thought about it, but it seems there's no place for a heavy dute mounting point.

Yes, I have a L245. Great ittle tractor, very light frnt end!
