The first character in the serial number is the year of manufacture. It changed in 2004 to a lettered system, starting with the letter D. So, if you have a 2005 tractor, the first character in the serial number would be 'E". if you have a 1998, the first character is an '8'. The next 3 characters are the code for the tractor model type. The rest of the number is the order of manufacture.
