How much vibration is experienced with a single action cutter bar and a BCS 852?

Hey Bob,

Dunno how you'd quantify the level of vibration. If kept at around 1/3 throttle, it is tolerable for several hours of use. If brought up past 1/2 throttle, it is unacceptably high on both the operator and the machine. With stock tires, the ground speed is on the low side. Please see the thread labeled "Honeeey? Do these tires make my butt look big?!?" on my recent experience field mowing with one.

Please note that the single action Cutterbar's are designed to work at a max of 50% throttle... Any higher than that you will get premature failure of the equipment, usually the blade adapter and or the user!

The vibration question get asked a lot. The advice of running the single action cutter bar at low to mid throttle is correct for both the health of the machine and the operator. Mowing a couple hours a day with the single action cutter bar is ok. However, the duplex has so much less vibration that it is the way to go if you are mowing for many hours. My many owners of the duplex cutter bar strongly advise me to sell only this model. It is expensive but you can mow at full throttle in third speed with 6.5x12 wheels and tires and reduce the cutting time by 50% or more and still have feeling in you hands after 8 hours of mowing.
