Older Vet came by today to vaccinate the horses for the people that lease my pasture.
A guy that knew him for a long time stopped by to say Hi!
Guy said to the Vet do you still get $15.00 a head to vaccinate horses?
Vet said $15.00 is the price for you, he paused, then said you still have those 4 headed horses don't you?

Actually if the vet came out to the farm for $60, he is still a pretty cheap vet. We live about 12 miles from our vet's office. For him to come out, it is $100 plus whatever the fee is for the procedure. We had to have a goat put down a few years back. $100 to come out, $50 to put her down, and then $8 per goat to draw blood from the rest to send off and have tested. Then we had to pay the testing fee at the office because he wasn't sure what the testing fee was. We have since learned to draw our own blood and have it sent off for testing ourselves. We order the needles and tubes online, send the test in and for most tests we are in it for less than $8 including needles, tubes, postage, and test.

I thought the vets with the sense of humor were those that handled other vets their parachutes and said, "If it doesn't work for you, bring it back and we'll give you a new one." :) Oh wait, those are different types of vets. :)

I've just changed vets. My original one was a great guy, but when I had to go into the office, the staff really upset me and the wife when I had to have my Bloodhound put down. They were more concerned that I pay a fee that had mistakenly been left off the bill I paid, than allowing us time to say goodbye to my dog. I have paid in full every time they have given me a bill and I guess I spend several thousand $$$ a year there easily. This was not the first time I had issues with the folks that are in the actual office with the other vet and techs.

New vet and his wife (also a vet) charge $70 per visit and if the neighbors wanna come on over, there is no extra charge beyond whatever service is needed for their animals. Shots are a little more, but there is not a charge beyond the actual medicines for the general checkup each of the critters get. So far, they have been great.

He's a great Vet. Professional and compassionate. Last time I had my dog there I had him on a leash, which is never done at home. My dog is never tied. Son as I walked in with Willard in tow Doc Stu said "Get that thing off him". I unsnapped the leash and Doc looked at Willard and said "Thats a lot better isn't it". :)

Me too.
My vet drives around in an old Pontiac, I have suggested that maybe with all that I pay him he should be driving a Cadillac.
