When was your BX2200 originally purchased? The original warranty is 2 years/1500 hrs bumper to bumper and 3 years/2000 hrs on engine & drivetrain. Are you taking the tractor back to the original dealer? There is a exclusion concerning "unauthorized modifications", but I can't imagine Kubota refusing to honor the warranty. We see them go the max for customers whenever they can.

I've combined the threads Very Upset and Very Upset Reply to keep all this is one thread. Here's the text of Todd's latest update and attached is DaveNH's pdf containing Kubota's Warranty Guide.

Thanks everybody for your support and help. I just got off the phone with the dealer and they have not heard from Kubota yet. The dealer said if he does not hear from them by monday,he will keep trying till he gets some answers. He will also give me the reps name and number so I can talk to him. They are tearing the head off this mornig to find the problem,I said go a head with it because I need my tractor, It is not doing me any good in the shop. Here is some more info on it that some of you want. The tractor is 19months old, has227 hours on it and has ran fine up till about a month ago. When the temp got cooler it began to start hard and when it got cold,[under 30] it would not start. It also started smoking more under load and seemed down on power. I did not think this was a big deal, maybe dirty filters or dirty injectors. I checked the glow plugs and they were fine. I have other motors with glow plugs that are 35years old, they dont go bad to often. I have done all mait by the book, oil change every 50hrs, new air cleaner once a year, clean it usually weekly, wash the tractor weekly, My wife hates that one. My dealer told me when I bought it, it had a two year warr. I never had or lost any actual warr papers and my computer will not let me download any off Kubotas web sight. No problems with the tractor before exept for the fuel tank leak recall and a broken air claener bracket. My original dealer took care of these. I switched to a larger dealer for this problem because he is the largest and oldeast dealer in the area. More experience with diesel engines. I have posted before that all dealers around here are not real customer freindly after they make the sale, that problem seems minor now. Ill let you know what happens monday.

tmcd,
Clean the air filter almost weekly
Be carefull not to overservice the air filter, removing it to clean to often can let dirt get in and be as bad as underservicing.

Man, I cant win! If you lived around here this summer the drought was unbelievable, very dusty. Now the problem will probally be blamed on the dust. Believe me, I do now how to change and service air filter.

You are right. I have a sensor that monitors the vacuum on the air filter, and just have to watch it. When the filter gets dirty then the vacuum monitor indicates that, meaning it is time to change (200 hours and no sign that the filter isn't filtering well). This prevents the problem of opening the air filter can and looking at it (can't usually see anything anyway), thus disturbing the filter seal, all of which helps keep dirt out of the air intake. Doubt that is McD's problem with his engine, but something that they might use as a wedge in his case for warranty work. Hopefully not.

I agree with you Todd. This is a not typical response that you would normally receive when asking for help on TBN.

I'm really suprised that this must somehow be your fault. Kubota owners take pride in their machine's reliability, but they are not perfect. Your problem is very unusual for any brand of tractor period. I hope the dealer & Kubota straighten things out and do the right thing by you. Good luck.

Oh yeah, my manual says to check the air filter daily.

I'm not trying to upset U more BUT,
u didn't use any starting fluid (either)
to start it when cold by chance?
My buddies Bobcat had a shot and
broke the top edge of piston down to
2nd ring groove.
He had HARD starting and loss of power
along w/ severe blow by.
Bobcat dealer told him Perkins diesels are
bad to break if either is used.

BigDave,
I must be missing the part where I said the problem was his fault.
I simply warned against over servicing a filter!!!

By the way Dave my owners manual says check for blockage every day.
Clean every 100 hours.

The warranty file on the Kubota web page is a pdf. file. You will need to download a free program called Adobe Acrobat Reader before you can download the warranty file. Click this link to download the free program: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
Go to the middle of the page and fill in the required information and click the Download button.
After downloading and installing the program go back to Kubotas web page and download the warranty informaton. Save it to a file so you will have it to review whenever you like. Hope this is of some help. I know just starting out on computers can be flusstrating. I know this is a tractor forum but if you need assistance or a little information on your computer you can ask and I'm sure some of the professional computer geeks on here would be glad to offer their expertise. By the way, I'm still learning too. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

"Check blockage evey day".
My doctor says for me to do that but what does the Kubota manual mean by that?
How are you supposed to do this? I check the oil and go.

How are you supposed to do this?
If I've been using the tractor in a dusty environment, as the drought this past summer made our pasture, I check the air filter after each use of the tractor and cleaned it (banging it on the driveway to dislodge the dust).

I check the oil and go.
Absent the aforementioned conditions, this is what I do, too.

Thanks again everyone, I wish I could thank each one of you direct but that would take about 2 weeks. When I clean the air filter, I do it like mikePA does, bang the dust off and go. NO,I did not use either, never have. I will try to download the file cpicton1 said to and see if that works. I will be on the phone first thing tomorrow and hopefully get things worked out. I havent given up on Kubota yet, Although my nephew just got a job at the local Massey Dealer,HMMM! Thanks Guys.

You have got to be kidding. This will do far more harm than good.

You have got to be kidding. This will do far more harm than good.
Why?

/ Very Upset #37
I am a bit over zealous on this. I wash the tractor every weekend and blow-dry it with a leaf blower. I blow out the filters at the same time.
I then use the Honda cleaner –wax stuff.
At the end, I have the perfect seat for Sunday football!

Mike,
The potential for damage to the end cap seal to the filter material is significant. Cracking the seal will negate the effectiveness of the entire filter. If you would like to view a Kubota training tape on filters care send me a private email with your address, and I will loan it to you.

/ Very Upset #39
Al, thanks for the info. I don't tap the ends of the filter on the ground, just the sides and I don't tap hard. I assume the right way to do this is to blow compressed air from inside the filter?
