Greetings. I began my search for a tractor in summer 2001. I've lurked on many boards, but I often come back here. I've been leaning more & more to a used greay/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif-market tractor and like much of what I read concerning yanmar.

This discussion board is heaven-sent as far as I'm concerned.
I want to say thanks for all the folks sharing their knowledge.

My time frame to purchase is spring/summer of 2003, so I should have enough time to find the right tractor for me at a respectable price.

Let us know about your search. The "hunt" is one of the best tractor times. Of course you will really have fun when you finally get your tractor. Don't forget plenty of implements. A tractor without implements is not much more than a gocart.

I just finished my Tractor Search (with the purchase of a 19ish year old Yanmar 336D)...have fun checking out all the tractor sites, dealers, etc.... I found TBN to be the BEST place for information on the whole-there are a lot of great folks here. For me it came down to finding the right tractor specification-wise at the right price. For others it seems to be most-comfortable tractor to operate at a competitive price. My advice is to figure out what you're criteria are, and when the right machine appears, BUY IT from a reputable dealer and enjoy-I certainly am /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The search is about the most exciting time. I bought my yanmar in the fall of 2001 after my brother in OK turned me on to them. (He has a 1300). I was looking for a "good 8N or 9N] but after seeing his tractor I was impressed. I found a local dealer and after several trips to his place I settled on the 2310 at a good price. It is more capable than the older n series, and has more features ( 40's-50\s vs early 80's technology)
