Ventrac/ Steiner forks

   / Ventrac/ Steiner forks #21
Forks aren't done yet,but there useable, and they sure are handy! also some pics of my new to me used and abused cab,I'm going to rebuild it and probably repaint it over the summer, next winter should be much easier with the cab and no wind and snow on me...it's not pretty, but I don't care,my dealer also said the old cabs hold up much better than the new ones that are all glass...I tested my machine to the limit with the caterpillars 74 inch bucket,I wanted to move it quick, and it took every last ounce of power it had to lift it,and it only picked it up a few inches, the sheet says the bucket is about 450 lbs,and the tooth bar is 75lbs more...

You can increase the lift capacity by engaging the weight transfer springs.

First of all, let me qualify by stating that few (by percentage) of my projects ever see completion!

My plan was to salvage a light duty walk behind type forklift (with mast) for use on my 430 MAX. This would give some nice height advantage over the Steiner built unit. I have two pallet forks on my larger loader but thought a light duty one would be nice.

Aside from the realization that this would be another attachment littering the place, the project fell apart when it became obvious that I didn't have the reserve oil in the Steiner to fill a rather long (but skinny) cylinder!

thanks Jack,I did do that last time I mounted them,I have them set now with just a little preload for the mower deck on flat ground...it's more than adequate for what it is...

Hello,
I really like your fork lift attachment. Could you share with me some of the dimensions ? I have a couple of Steiners, and I think this would be very handy to have around. I'm a tool and die maker by trade, so the fabrication is very do able. Also some specs on the cylinder would be appreciated.

Are either of you planning on mounting the forks on the bucket?
Sorry to bump an old thread but I was doing some web surfing regarding attachments for the Ventrac and came across this. I figured I would add a photo since this question was asked.
It doesn't lift a great deal of weight given the length of the forks but the design was intended to slip under large brush piles and pick them up slightly to be easily moved to the burn location. Since I don't get around so well, this has saved me so much time and effort without even the need to leave my seat.
The forks are easily installed and clip on to the the slip scoop and secured by two bolts. The spread of the forks is adjustable out to the width of the inside of the bucket.

Hello Choctaw111....Could you e-mail me @ rob3280@live.com about info on the forks you have posted here? Who makes them, etc. Thanks.

I designed a mounting frame with hydraulic cylinder to attach a set of 3-point hitch adjustable pallet forks I purchased to the front hitch of a Ventrac. The mounting geometry has to be chosen carefully so that when the forks are fully raised and fully tilted back, the back stop doesn't contact the tractor hood.

Do you have pics or dwg on the build.
I壇 like to give this a go where as you have knowledge I was wondering if you might share.
