Hi all,
I've come across a Craftsman GTV 16. The tractor looks like its pretty hefty. It has some surface rust, and will need painted, tires are old, seat is shot, and the battery is dead. That's all I know at this point, going to look at it tomorrow. Judging from Sears partsdirect, it looks as though parts could be hard to find. This thing uses a B&S twin 16 and a 3 speed transaxle with the varidrive belts to vary speed in a particular range. I've seen several you tube restoral videos with impressive results. I'm courious as to what you all think a fair price is for this unit. Thanks

Well I bought this thing and frankly I'm pretty impressed. It runs well for sitting as long as it did. The tires were rotted and I've replaced them. I temporarily put the battery out of another tractor in and it starts right up and runs fine. It will need paint and general cleanup but everything that is there works. Missing is any attachments and the "mule" drive set up. If anyone knows where I might find any please feel free to contact me. One question I do have: When searching for information I came across a post somewhere by an owner who claimed that he put ag tires on one and that "blew up the axles" inside the transaxle...can anyone suggest why this would or could happen? Thanks

Run whatever tires you like, only overloading or low fluid is going to break the axle, not tire tread in and of it's self.
