I found a neat site Welcome | www.bearsmart.com that tells of rigging ice chests with internal electric fence shockers to re-train bears to avoid them
I like BearSmart's thinking, try to co-exist, if the bears don't tear up too much stuff and don't injure any of us I'm ok with them. Don't know if bear meat is any good to eat anyhow
So far the damage is less than $5, I'm ok with that, it was worth it for the pics!

I live a few miles from Myrtle Beach. With the land clearing we have had for construction bear sightings have really increased. Was surprised to learn some if not most bear hunters with dogs use a hand gun to kill them as they get close so not to hit their dogs. I had always thought it took a good size rifle.

Skyco-- as Ive been having some problems with nigh visitors lately... I've considered a "game cam" set-up.

What's yours? Any suggestions? (Seems like there's a boatload of choices out there, some of which aren't worth much, apparently.)

I think my garbage bag theory panned out...bears visited again and left the water jug alone this time with no garbage bag over it.
