John Deere 797
Hey All,

I have a Kawasaki FD791D 29 hp DFI engine in my JD 797. The valves are ticking pretty badly and I doubt they've ever been adjusted. The owners manual states that they should be adjusted every 300 hours and that I should "see my John Deere Dealer." I am mechanically inclined and have an "ultimate set of tools" so I think I can handle this with a litte technical info. Anyone out there with the specs and proceedure?

Many Thanks!

Update:

I was reading my manual more closely and it also recommends the following:

Every 300 Hours
· Adjust valve clearance. See your John Deere dealer.
· Clean and lap valve seat surface. See your John Deere dealer.
· Clean combustion chamber. See your John Deere dealer.
· Check and adjust PTO clutch air gap. See your John Deere dealer

I called the dealer and they will do the above for $185 including pickup and delivery. I think I'll cut the grass this weekend and send it off on Monday.

Thanks for the manual! Much better than the JD version.
