value of a cottonplanter?

I advertised for a corn planter: I got a call from a guy that has a JD 4 row planter - witha seat. This sounds to me like a cotton or tobacco planter, and teh guy says the farmer used to farm cotton.

wants 100 bucks for it. still has green paint, shed kept until about a year ago.

I'm trying to figure out what you guys think about potential value, could I use it to plant corn?

Most cotton planters made since WW II were simply a variant of a corn planter. (ie Deere 246 corn planter, 247 cotton/corn planter) Tobacco setter is a totally different animal. Lots of cotton planters had seats years ago. A rider watched the function of each row for jamming. (Replaced by electronic row monitors finally) Is it 3-point or drawn? Try to get a picture or model #.

For food plot planting, you can most likely use a cotton planter to plant corn.
