Does anyone know if there is any difference between a classical A v-belt and an agricultural HA v-belt?

The HA belt is $32 at the Deere dealer and $20 for the A belt at the auto parts store and is 15 miles closer. The auto store carries both Gates and Dayco for the same price and both are good brands.

Very likely there is a difference. Might be why the numbers are different.
I've found over the years, that substituting belts seldom works well.

I am guessing here, but I bet the HA is Kevlar and the one you are comparing to may not be, aside from the JD paint.

The kevlar belts as I understand it, are more able to withstand the wrapping around pulleys tightly and the flexing backwards then the standard belts and is why you see them on mowers and such.

I could be all wet on this, but I bet the accurate answer is on BDI's website, my local manager is excellent and patient at educating me on these things so I just usually ask him. :)

I know some belts are 'power' belts, while some are not.
