Used utility pole sources?

I live in Grenville SC and am looking for used utility poles. I got a quote from www.nssccorp.com for a truck load(40ish poles) for apprx 500 delivered about 6 months ago. They no longer do this in my area because they lost their contract with our local energy company. There are some on Craigslist but they are expensive and they are getting them from somewhere. Does anyone have a source for used poles in the SC upstate area?

Have you checked with your power company? Our horse club just got a trailer load free from one of our member's power company (we are going to use them for tie lines at the horse camp.) He said they had a couple of thousand poles sitting there but they only give them to their customers.

Just a thought. Bored horses like to chew. Nasty chemicals in utility poles.
