Used NH TC33 D Inspection

I have found a 1998 TC33 D with Supersteer and a Woods FEL. It has 1100 hours and is at a used tractor yard. The owner of this yard says that he traded for this tractor from another dealer and he does not know the history of the tractor. It starts, runs, and sounds like a new tractor. Unfortunately that is all I know to do as far as an inspection is concerned. What should be checked and inspected to make sure I am buying a sound tractor? Do new tractor dealerships perform inspections for people buying used tractors from someone else? Thank you in advance for your advice.

1,100 hours seems like a lot of hours for a 3 year old tractor. Even if you call it a 4 year old tractor, that's over 250 hours per year. Might it be a returned rental unit?

I agree with Mike that 1100 hours is a lot for that tractor. That said, remember that the diesel engine is designed to run a very long time on that unit. I have a full time farm buddy, and his suggestion to me was to drive it (20 min), check all the little stuff......lights, blinkers, gauges, fel, etc. to see if they are working....if they are, than it's a good chance that the big things were taken care of. The dealer also knows where he bought it. Get the name and call (it's only a dime versus the price of the tractor). New Holland should also be able to help on the tractor's history (at least were it was sold). Tire wear is also a indicator of the machine's history/what is was used for. And lastly.....is it a good deal? You can go to New Holland's web site and search for used TC33D's to price compare. Happy hunting!
