used my new to me sickle mower today, I have a question

So ,I bought traded for this sickle mower and have to instructions. I have no idea what the chain does or where it goes.

I believe that is used to hold the blade up during transport and storage. It’s an extra safety measure.

another brand of mower , but similar looking, shows it mounted to the tractor where the top link attaches.

I think I figured out the chain. Pretty sure it for when the unit breaks away , the chain prevents it from damaging the 3 point hitch pin. How do I know this, when I got the unit the hitch pin on the side where the break away is mounted was bent bad. I had to heat it up and straighten it out before I could hook it up.
