Price Check Used B26 TLB or New Kioti CK3510

I agree that the jd110 could have stayed a machine of choice for a lot of reasons had Deere taken care of the issues with them. Deere also had a 350 dozer that they stopped production on. There are still some running but parts are getting next to impossible to find. I think the only small equipment they still make under the construction group is the skid steers and mini-excavators. I am not sure on the thinking of this. There is a large group of construction that doesn't need a $150,000 machine to dig a hole.

Been considering buying a new tractor. Mostly been looking at Kubota or Kioti. Done a lot of research and mostly settled on buying a new Kioti.

Had a friend list their 2010 Kubota B26 TLB (hydrostat) for sale. Only 275hrs, has the ROPS roof/cover. Drove it and sounds and runs great. They want 24000, which seems a little high to me after checking tractorhouse and equipmenttrader.

So, if i cant talk them down, is 24000 a fair price? Any suggestions on getting them down to around 20000? They seemed pretty firm on it...

I can get a 2020 Kioti CK3510 for 28000.

Yes, im aware of the difference in HP. But a kubota with no warranty vs a new tractor for 4000 more with a 6 year warranty?

Thoughts? Suggestions? Opinions? Thanks!

The B26 looks good, B26 Kubota tractor - farm & garden - by owner - sale

but there is also another nearby (that showed up on a CL search by zipcode) for $10,700 with ~1300 hrs.

One thing you need to understand is that Kubota and Kioti build their attachments with weight in mind when it comes to tractors. They use pretty thin steel, which is fine for what it's intended to do. The KB2475L has 2800 lbs if digging force at the bucket, the BH77 has 3400 lbs. The BT820 (the backhoe on the B26) has 4200 lbs. That would be noticeable if trying to remove a stump or large rock. To get that Kubota built it about 200 lbs heavier.

It doesn't mean the B26 is the right machine for you. This is kind of like asking "should I buy a used low mileage 1 ton truck with a diesel for a great price or stick with a new 1/2 with a gas engine?". What I will say is that the Kubota is more likely to hold it's value so if you decide you don't need it's extra capability or you want more HP you should be able to sell it and not loose much (if any money). This in part because you're buying it used plus Kubotas hold their valve pretty well.

think of it this way, in ten years you can sell your b26 for the price you paid for it or more and get the next new fangled electric TLB.

thats what I did with my B7800. I bought it for 4000$ less than a new one and it was 3 years old I just sold it last spring for the price I paid for it. and upgraded to a used grand l 4740 for approximately 16,000 less than a new one. My tractor is an investment that does not go down unless you break it. I just parked 40,000 dollars in it and I will get that back when it is time to sell. the new ones keep going up so the used prices will too.

Now that's an interesting thought. We know that used tractors go down in price as they get used....but we also see that at some point the used price doesn't go down anymore. And after enough years pass it isn't unusual at all for a used tractor to end up selling for more than it originally cost. It doesn't have to be an antique or vintage for that to happen..... A 20/25 hp 4wd compact tractor with a loader cost about $5000 new in the early 1980s. That same tractor in average used condition would bring that today.

So how old is old? Hours are easy; most TBNers figure 100 hrs/year on compact tractors is about right - maybe even a little high. What does that say about a tractor that cost $38K ten years ago and the seller wants $24K today? Should it go for more or less? Will it ever drop down to half of its original cost, or has it already been there?

The history of the used tractor market tells us that day will come when that old tractor's price reaches bottom and starts to rise, but when? When does the price start to go up?
Getting back to that 1980s tractor that cost $5K then and now, did it's price ever drop to $2500?

Just thinking out loud....
