I have been reading posts and responses on TBN for over three years now and this is my first post. I have to say that I have enjoyed the posts and have learned a lot from reading them. My question today is - how many of you have utilized the trailer towing plug-in which comes with the Mahindra tractors? I had a need to a couple of weeks ago and, lo and behold, it doesn't fit anything made in the USA that I can find! I got online to the Mahindra chat room and on to the customer service group in Texas where a very nice lady named Brenda said she was familiar with the problem. After a most enjoyable conversation the final answer was that I should go get a plug that works with trailers in the USA and wire it in. Have any of you ran into this problem?? I guess I will simply go purchase a 7-wire plug and install it but I just don't understand why Mahindra would sell tractors with a European electrical plug for use in the USA. It is my understanding that this may be a common occurance with all tractors made in other countries.

My Mahindra 3510 is over three years old and have not had any problems and do not anticipate any. Sure do a lot of work with the little devil

Welcome to Tractor By Net :D

I don't think it would be difficult to swap the plugs over, there are plenty of schematics on the internet if needed.

What were you going to use the plug for?

Gary, follow this link http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/mahindra/102848-4110-7-pin-trailer-socket.html?highlight=trailer to an earlier disscusion.
One of the threads gives the Hella part number & picture of the connector.
It is european and not sure if your dealer can get it. Most guys just replace it with a 7 pin RV type, easy to do.

My first use is to pull a hay trailer on roads. I can think of several more.

Thanks for the link to the previous thread. I can't believe I missed that one. Yeah, it's no problem to change the plug over. I will pick one up the next time I hit a big city (population of over 75).

One other use I have been contemplating is adding some lights (as described in the customization section of TBN) using magnets and attaching to a plug which I could plug into the trailer plug for easy disconnect. Not sure if this will work or not since I have not worked out the amp load yet, but will do so before burning anything up.

Thanks again,

Gary

It does amaze me after all this time and with all the countless trailer plug conversion adapters on the market that no one has yet to locate a 7-pin European 'N' type to 7-pin American RV adapter.

Think I could make a million bucks or so by marketing one??? :D

Galen, is that the male portion of the Type N plug? If so, shoot me one of those PMs also. I think it would be pretty easy to make an adapter and keep my 4110's plug original.
