Has anyone upgraded the standard drag links to telescoping ones? I'd like to upgrade but I'm afraid the dealer quote would scare me off. Is there another avenue to buy them? I've also heard of ones that have both Cat 1 and Cat 2 balls in them. That would be sweet not having to use the bushings. I've never seen them in person though.

I had the extendable links with the combination lift arm ball that could rotate to either Cat 1 or Cat 2. My JD 5303 has fixed arms. I prefer the extendable links, but wound up going with the Pats Easy Change system.

Both my tractors have the telescoping lower arms.
Maybe check a tractor salvage yard for used arms?
Quick Hitch
Pat's Easy Change: PEC

I am sure cost was the reason for supplying fixed arms.

Dealer quote for the adjustable arms with cat1/cat2 is $735.56. Ouch, but they sure would be nice.

What are your thoughts on a quick hitch instead? I have a cat 1 QH and use it with both my cat 1 and cat 2 implements. Once you get set up with bushings it fits most things very well. Since mounting the quick hitch I have not once used my extendable links to hook something up.

I understand you only asked about the links, but just wanted to point out another alternative that has worked well for my situation, yours could be very different.

I thought about that, but I've read mixed reviews on quick hitches. I've also never seen one operate in person which might change my mind.

That's understandable. Also, depending on your equipment, it may or may not be compatible.

Something like Pats easy change or whatever it's called could also be a good, much cheaper alternative.

Regardless though, the extendable links would be a good upgrade.
