If you wish upon a star...

Spent some time at the Christmas Tree farm my brother in law manages. 72 acres outside of Deerfield, VA. Got to mow with a John Deere 770 and try my hand at gravel road repair with a Kubota L3030. Let's just say my feeble skills were no match for the 3030 and I soon found myself sucking my thumb, mowing along blissfully on the green machine.

For a guy that has never driven anything other than his BX2630 it was a treat.

Saw my first water moccassin too. He saw his first and last Remington 870.

The last photo is just a vanity shot of my Tacoma.

Its a lot of fun trying out different tractors, and getting a few hours on each. Kinda lets you know how others work. I also plan on getting some time, on someone eles Kubota next weekend, a L3700 TLB, since I can't get any time in the seat of my new machine. Got only 8ths of an hour, before I had to go back to work. Will be in Walnutport PA over the holiday weekend, hope to get a few hours seat time. So what was the problem in trying to fix the road?

I'm kinda partial to the Chevy in the second photo. :D

Regardless, I envy the variety of tractor uses! I don't have enough opportunities to use anything other than my BX.

I just felt like I wasn't really "in command" of the rear PTO and implement, never having used it before 蔓just lacked that magic touch that you have when you become really proficient with them.

snpower, I see, I too feel that way when working with larger equipment, we has a case 580 on the railroad, and using the BH on that machine was tough when it used a five stick controler. Also when trying to level off spaces, my little BX allowes me to get to finsh grade very quickley, all though doing it smaller slices at a time, as oposed to the FEL of the larger tractors.

I think that Kubota is a L3130 not a B3030. That is three sizes up from the BX and I tell you I understand why it felt way too big. When I upgraded I stepped up only one size and it seemed like a lot. Took a while to get used to the larger machine.

edit: I like the line about the water moccasin too.
