Upgrade 5425 to 6230

I am considering trading my 4 yr old 5425 with flat platform and power reverser, 542 loader, hay spear, and pallet forks for a 6230 cab 4x4 with new heavy duty loader, hay spear, and pallet forks. 16/16 power quad transmisson with the power reverser, air seat, and buddy seat. My tractor and $37000.00 difference. Is this a good deal or not? My tractor has about 1000 hours.

If you're an experienced farmer, you know enough to determine the return on investment for the larger tractor (assuming you want to be a successful farmer).
If you're a hobbyist...well, $37000 is a lot of money. So why do you think you need that 6230?

1st blush... it doesn't sound like that good a deal to me!

I must admit that I haven't spent much time looking at 6000 series machines (sideways glances..) and how they're priced either used or new.

But, I have been looking at 5000 series machines; new and used - with, without cabs.

Back of the napkin, dollar change from the high-end 4000 machines to the high-end 5000 machines is around $10-15K. Same math going from 5000 to 6000; seems that a 6230 spec'd out like you want would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $62K.

So, that means they're offering you around $25K for your 5425...? About right? You might come out better selling your tractor on your own and working a deal on the 6230 by it's self.
