KAMA/TS354C 35HP 4 cyl 4 wheel drive
This is kinda a follow-up on my previous thread "My KAMA got a cold". A couple of members mentioned that I might check the compression release, apparently at times may be the culprit. Well I went up yesterday for yet another 10hr drive to take some things up and decided while I was there just take a look and check to see IF that may be an issue. Much to my suprise I DON"T HAVE ONE. I have a place for one on the dash. Don't know if it's supposed to or not, so I raised the hood thinking maybe during transport it got sucked into the engine compartment. Can't really tell if it's had one or needs one for that matter, without a book on the engine I don't know what to look for. But whats in the engine seems to be all hooked up nothing looks like it's dangling in the breeze anywhere. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Dunno which engine you have in yours, but here's where the compression release linkage hooks up on the three cylinder. What it looks like is sorta like a lever sticking out of the back end of the valve cover, with a spring between the lever and the valve cover. The linkage hooks up to the lever, then goes down behind the engine, then under or alongside the gas tank, and out to the operator's position.

I beleive I got the 4cyl Y485, when I looked at the engine especially the valve cover there isn't a place for anything to hook up or thru it for that matter. Maybe mine just never came with one. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

TS354C do not have compression release. THe Y485 engine is not equipped for it. It is direct injection and easy to start.

Grumpa, my 284 LE Jinma doesn't have the compression release either and it is not direct injection. It has the release on the valve cover but no linkage to the dash. I don't know why they left it off of this model-but they did. I added an in line heater on the lower radiator hose and it starts fine in cold weather but it looks like it would be easier on the engine to start with compression release.

Just browsing through some specifications and I see that the Y485 engine is a swirl chamber (indirect injection) engine. The YD485 is a direct injection. All very confusing. Maybe the compression release is an option? I know my Y380T has a compression release, but I seldom use it since it's stored in a semi-heated area. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Bill,
Could be your Jinma has shuttle shift? if so there is not enough room for the CR lever and the shuttle linkage.

Chip, I do have shuttle shift, thanks for the explanation.
