Congratulations! Aaah, to remember what it was like to be young; now we have so many nieces and nephews, I barely know all of them; just got an invitation to one niece's 25th wedding anniversary celebration!

<font color=blue>wondering where the word "cop" came from</font color=blue>

If you find out, let me know./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Some have claimed it came from the abbreviation for Constable On Patrol from England. Others have said it originated from the copper bottons on the uniforms. One definition in the dictionary for the word cop is "take away, catch, capture." And I suppose there's been a few other theories. I have no idea whether any of them are right.

I do know that when I started in law enforcement, most of the officers considered it a derogatory slang word, and it really teed them off to be called a cop. I suppose some still do feel that way, but I think that attitude has changed quite a bit. At least a lot of us referred to ourselves and our comrades as cops./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
