After 6.5 hrs on my new tractor, (good bit of fel work) I just noticed they never greesed the top pivot pin on my loader. Dry as dust...paint pealing on the arm.

I guess I should have looked her over better when they delivered it.

So..what should I do?

Tell them to pick it up, and give me a new loader??

Grease the fitting and enjoy the loader. I highly doubt they are going to give you a new loader. However, I'd report it to them. What brand loader and tractor?

Surprised they didn't forget to add oil to the engine at the factory. Yeah, it has happened!

This should remind all of us to not take things for granted and check out the equipment all around before we use it. I would probably not be too far off base if I said we have all been guilty of this some time in our lives.

I bought a brand new 6' Bush Hog, the dealer told me it was "field ready", so I took his word for it. After the first pasture, I checked the diff, guess what? dry as a bone!!! So much for field ready!!!

Always check!!! (I do now!!)

Heck.. I check all my oil sumps as part of my 'pre-flight' anyway...

That is a good idea.... sometimes they leak out and sometimes the bolts that hold the gear box to the frame come loose. Had one try to take off like a helicopter once.

Concerning the FEL, I doubt running dry hurt it...much. Maybe a little more wear but nothing excessive.
