I don't find much worthy of watching on TV, but it is pretty sad to see the extent to which the discovery Channel has fallen. Anyone who watched the first series of "Alaskan Bush People" knows a few things about them. Like the fact that they moved into the Alaskan interior in late fall without funds or a plan and were going to freeze to death. They ended up loaning and borrowing supplies from all sorts of strangers so that they could build their house. Then they were never going to get it done in time and several of the locals pitched in to help them get a roof over their head before they woke up cold blue and dead.
Then had 1 or 2 individuals fire shotguns in their general direction at night, which caused them to pack up and leave the next day.
Now in the nightly preview which they have to run at least every half an hour, papa Brown makes statements like "Nobody is going to stop the Browns" and "We don't need the outside world". Seems that the actors and the producers seem to think we all have a short memory.
"Alaska the last Frontier" seems to be at least a relatively honest portrayal of a homesteading family, and "Gold Rush" seems to finally be reaching a point where the people seem to have an idea what they are doing.
i am a self defined relaity tv *****. I love these shows and most all alaskan shows. I watch almost any man-type show and all the survival shows.
You have to take what it is for what its worth. Use the internet and find out whats real and whats for the show. I recently read a article on them. That first "remote location" was in a subdivision. Yes it was remote and a country setting for use in most of the lower 48 but for alaska standards it was not. I think much of that was for the show. There were no shots fired at them, the State troopers were not called...dont you think they would be on something like that. What did happen was the neighbor got tired of the crew helicopter flying over for filming and one night when the chopper flew low over them he fired motar type fireworks in its direction. The troopers were called on that and it was captured on film my the chopper crew. that never made it on the show cause it would spoil the show remote nature. The guy said he had enough and the chopper would not come over when he repeditly flagged them and his young son was trying to sleep. This is backed up by the FAA who fined the guy for endangering and fireing things in the direction on the aircraft.
Bush people i dont think was the hit when it first came on..i think it got big in reruns?
Like the show mick dodge he dosent live in the woods nor does he wear leather chlothes for the show. The producers wanted him to wear them to look the part. He did not like it cause he is always wet and cold, he wears a rain coat like us all. He does the show and what they say to promote the forest and its virgin nature and wants to keep it and raise awareness so he goes along with thier demands, mostly.
