I once observed "ball" lighting. Now THAT was incredible. Or whatever it was, fascinating.

Thanks for sharing,we know what we saw, that is all that matters.
I admittedly have not read the complete thread, but I will offer the following: Back in the early 80's, one morning before work (I worked in a research laboratory at the time) I went out to get the paper. There in the Southeastern sky was a huge orb; approximately 4 or 5 times the size of the moon. It was perfectly round, a brushed aluminum color, and it was perfectly still. It was very difficult to judge it's actual size, because I really had no point of reference, but I can testify that it was NOT the moon because it was much too large. I studied it for a moment, and surmised it must be some explainable phenomenon, picked up the paper and went inside.

On my way to work, I noted that it had moved farther away, but had not moved upward, as one would expect the moon to do. I heard later that others had seen it, and the news said that it was a "weather balloon". It was not a weather balloon, I am pretty sure of that. Others I talked to who saw it did not think so either. Hayden Hughes, of UFO fame is an acquaintance of mine; we discussed it, and he told me that I was correct, it was not a weather balloon, and that this "type" of UFO was not uncommon.

I don't know what compelled me to ignore it initially; I wish now that I had taken some pictures. I was a Research Chemist at the time and considered myself a Scientist, and I guess I just assumed it was some natural phenomenon.

Not discrediting your story in any way so please don't take it that way.

40 years ago I saw something similar. I watched it off and on for a couple hours, kept getting smaller with no change in elevation. Finally dawned on me that the kids had a tripod telescope. I got it out and took a close look. It was a weather balloon. With the telescope you could see the dangling mechanism. With the naked eye and the sun reflection it appeared as a perfectly round silver object. Those things are huge!!!!

No offense taken...I have been wrong before, and I admittedly do not know exactly what the object was. I say it was not a weather balloon...I have seen them before, and at a low altitude, they are not perfectly round. The ones I have seen are shaped more like a teardrop, with the apex downward toward the electronic package. The object I saw was perfectly round...and I mean absolutely unequivocally round...and it was apparently close enough that it was not hidden by any clouds, trees, houses or affected by differences in air density due to heat. There were no surface features of any kind; only the color and the apparent brushed aluminum texture. Having said that, I cannot prove one way or another that it was or was not a balloon.

FWIW, judging from the house across the street, the thing was AT LEAST as big as the house, even bigger. But as I mentioned before, lacking any more perspective, it was difficult to judge exactly where it was and therefore accurately estimate its size. Having said that, I would go out on a limb and guess it was at least maybe 70 or 80 feet across using the house as my only reference.

I'm a spiritual person and believe that when I die I will face God. All my sins will be placed upon me. With my acceptance of God they will then be erased. Lastly, and this is just my hope, I hope that I will get an opportunity to answer all my questions I've compiled in a lifetime. One of them will be an explanation of all the things I've saw that I can't explain. :)

Here is how I see it; I'm Christian, so I believe I'm made in gods image. To me that means the angles and any other being are subordinate to me! So I'm not afraid of something like an extraterrestrial, or anything else. If there are other life forms; they are below me, I don't really care about them. I'm next to God, their somewhere below. My bet is people observer a not understood weather phenomenon. HS.

"Genesis 1:26
Then God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

Notice it doesn't say anything about dominion over creatures beyond Earth. You will find out how "subordinate" they are when humans become appetizers!

BBQ alien might be more realistic. They are afraid that's whey they are not here! We'd kill them. HS

I'll have to study that. My understanding is that in Heaven all are equal?? No subordinates?? And all who are there are loved??

But your understanding is that there will be hierarchies with you sitting above some subordinates including the Angels??

That's funny. Thanks for the humor.

I believe mankind is subordinate to NOTHING in God's Creation. We are His image and His children. No force in the universe has the "authority" to destroy mankind. Yes, we can be killed in a number of ways - traffic accidents, disease and wars, etc. We cannot be wiped out. Therefore, aliens would be just another challenge on a long list of challenges.

Angles in the heavens, created by mankind.

Actually they are here. Why they haven't already turned Earth into a buffet is unknown. Perhaps we're more valuable alive than dead or perhaps they just don't like the way humans taste? :chef:

Or maybe the Earth is the alien equivalent of a little kid's ant farm. Push a stick into it and watch them run.

If extraterrestrial beings show up here before we discover life and travel to another place, or have shown up here already... then it is assumed that their technology is far beyond ours. This would also lead me to believe that they could probably wipe us out if they wanted to.

It may also be fair to say that they have been around longer to be able to evolve to that point.

My question is why are aliens usually portrayed so similar to humans... two legs, two arms, a head, and close in size? My guess is that if they do exist they wouldn't look anything like us and be a completely different size.

Physical characteristics are a function of the environment in which a creature evolves. Whatever works best on a planet survives and the rest become existent. Similar aliens would tend to come here because we have the potential to be more useful?

I don't know, I always thought a centaur would be a pretty practical body.

Or better yet, similar aliens would tend to come here because our environment would be positive to their makeup.

As to potential for usefulness. When/if we gain the ability to go to planets that have intelligent life, will we go their to use them?? After having watched decades of alien movies we tend to think evil of them. Would we be evil like that in our travels?
