UFO's... What do you think?

Just read some article that the CIA tweeted on Monday that they admit to being the cause of half of the UFO sightings in the 50s and 60s. Who'd a thunk that?

These theories are just a few of the more popular hypotheses. There are a lot more out there. The concepts of dark matter and dark energy present frameworks for a plane of reality totally beyond our powers of observation. When it comes to finding the edges of the universe, we've really only just begun.[/I]

Hypotheses are like aholes, everybody has one. Especially the academics looking for their next research grant. Have to laugh at the word "dark". What that really means is clueless. Doesn't mean we should stop seeking the Truth though. Stop seeking and we have no chance of avoiding inevitable extinction.

If the Universe has an "edge" then what is beyond the edge? We may never know because the Universe is expanding faster than the speed of light. So if Einstein was right (it's impossible for mass to move through space faster than the speed of light) it will be impossible to ever travel to the edge or even observe the edge.

All we really "know" is what we think we can see or infer. I don't think we know very much at this point.

Hypotheses are a part of searching for the truth. Some of these things will never be verified unless there is an expectation of what to look for and how it would be detected. That's pretty common in complex physics experiments.

That leaves half they don't claim credit for. Why would the CIA have been vetting UFO reports? Hmmmmm. :D

UFO's... What do you think?

"Think" may be too strong of word for the topic...but...>

Something I find puzzling is that the first public sector ventures into space are mostly geared to take spectators there merely for the novelty and the views...

Maybe it's going on in secret (no need for publicity) but I think there would be more to gain by more adventurous endeavors...like rare element mining (*and possibly finding new natural elements) and being able to change the orbits of anything big enough to land on, grab, or suck up...

...At the top of list I think would be creating crafts that are basically omnidirectional propulsion systems with the capability of landing on and anchoring themselves to asteroids etc. that both pose a danger to Earth and those that contain rare or unknown elements...and being able to slow down and change the orbits to where they no longer pose a danger or can put them in an orbit where another craft could mine them... like maybe around the moon (or Mars even) where refineries could be placed...we've already eliminated a lot of the unknowns about being able to get to the moon and back...and (in abstract) we know what can be done remotely under thousands of feet of water without human hands on contact...

...Granted, there is a big difference between taking sightseers up to or near low earth orbits for the thrill of it...and reaching into much more distant space (the virgin fishing grounds)...BUT IMO this is/will be or should be where the really smart money invests...

If you've read this much here is the summation of my 'outer limits' philosophy...(or like the plastic toy in the CJ box)...!

It is possible (like "anything")...that if there are other similar (humanoid, grey or even lizard-like etc.) civilizations beyond our solar system and they have the technology to transport themselves around the cosmos (or at least around the "local" galaxies, AKA UFO's)...it could be that wherever they are from they have access to elements we have no knowledge of...elements (etc.) that have allowed them the ability to create technologies we have no clue about...they could be no more socially or mentally etc. advanced than us but because they had different materials to work with, they could have mastered technologies unknown to us...
...We know very little about what's really "out there" (like the depths of the oceans on our own planet!)...

If the Earth is so unique (which it is) and maybe we are limited to using (utmost sense of the word) the elements/compounds we know about? and think that because another alien civilization can do things we cant is because they have superior (advanced) intellectual capabilities could be entirely off the wall...it could be that they simply had superior elements/compounds that would run like cars on water (if you get my drift...)...That is why we should be treating space like the pilgrims treated the new world (only with more integrity)...

That is a very good point.

What do you call an over-weight alien?
