Looking at the future 50 hr drain mark...and beyond of course...and since its determined that UDT is better than running DRY... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif...and that SUDT..is NOT a syn fluid..its just a multi viscosity fluid...Ive run across "Chevron Synthetic All Weather THF"

Synthetic; multiviscosity; exceeds all the specs that Kubota SUDT has with the exception that its pour point is -45 as compared to -46... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif....so does it sound like a "winner".??

Its priced right at the same as SUDT...and Id have to go about 5 miles further to get it ( the opposite direction) so whats anyone think?

Personally I like Chevron's lubes and such...but never have used this ( has anyone else??)

Input appreciated!

I use Chevron All Synthetic AW hydraulic fluid. Its orange so its easier to see, slightly less costly then SUDT, comes in 5 gallon pails or larger (last time I bought) and well, it works. I also use Delo 15W40 engine oil.

I did notice that its colored...suppose to help if a leak, etc develops. So..seems like Im not totally offbase then! I think I'll give the man a call and tell him to order some in for me...also some of their grease also...Im partial to their grease after using a few tubes of it.

I use 15W-40 Delo in my motohome..( Cummins ISC 330 HP) but went with a lighter weight oil for this mini diesel motor.

Thanks for the input!

Same here on both counts. No problems at all.

I checked the specs on a few hydraulic fluids to see if any compared closely to SUDT. Looks like the Chevron THF has the closest match.

I used SUDT on my B7510HST for its 50-hour fluid change. But I think I'll try THF when I change fluids again at the 300-hour mark, assuming I still own the Bota at that time, which at the rate I'm putting on seat hours, will be in 2009.

LOL...so whats wrong with the "red grease" from Chevron???

Sully, its a long story, but the short of it is that for awhile back in the early 2000's, folks were into talking about grease. Me, with the over the top sense of humor suggested any grease was fine except red grease. When folks questioned why I would say this, the answer was simple, red grease is commie grease, simple as that. Since then, I have had all post's that mentions "commie" eliminated. While the word "commie" has a certain amount of negativity associated with it, my post was not to denegrate a communist society but to point out that while grease is not just grease, most grease is quite adequate for the many pivots a tractor has. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Lets see how long this post makes it.

For my first maintence I studied carefully exactly as you did, and selected Chevron exactly because it is synthetic, cheaper than SUDT, and orange so you can see it on the dip stick. HOWEVER, I looked for a day and could not figure out where to purchase it in the Austin, Texas area. So, had to go with SUDT... hope to find the Chevron for next change.

Which one do you use to replace SUDT??

Tractor Hydraulic Fluids

Chevron 1000 THF
Chevron Synthetic All-Weather THF
Chevron Delo® Trans Fluid ESI
Chevron Drive Train Fluid MP

I have to change the oil in few weeks this may be an option, IF I can find it.

Thanks

I have used the Chevron All Weather Synthetic THF since my 50 hr fluid change on the L3710. No problems except getting it. The local Chevron guy says no one uses it this far south and he has to special order it from somewhere up north.

Well...SH**! Local Chevron distributor just called and said that Chevron only packages the stuff in 55 gal drums!!!...geeze!! ( Or I could buy in bulk....LMAO)

I contacted the NJ distributor and got this! OH Well, guess this is NOT an option if you live in NJ.

There are no retail distributors of this product in New Jersey.
We have the product available in 55 gallon drums out of our

Carteret, NJ warehouse.
Price per drum is: $ 851.95

My local distributor from that site doesn't have it either.

I also could order the oil through a distributor, the size, 55 gallon drum. The price was very close to sudt, so I purchased the sudt.

It is my impression that these companies do not care about the little guy.

While I can get the Chevron AW in 5 gallon containers, it was special ordered and the guy mentioned nobody orders it much and he was wondering why I was. I don't think it is a matter of not caring about the little guy, I think it has as much to do with economics and practicality of stocking a relatively slow moving product. I also agree that for the price difference, SUDT is fine. Other then the orange color to help see it on the stick, it does not have any observable difference.
