know kubota has a cash cow with high priced transmission fluid. Is it any better then any of the other. Bought my bota second hand and person said they used tractor supply brand which says on the container its a replacement for bota udt. any body have thoughts on this. tractor seems fine and we used this in our jd with no problems and gears are gears. thanks for inputs. j

did the search thing, read all 7 pages of comments but none really came up with many facts one way or the other. Has anyone ever had a negative experience running other then kubota brand udt in their gear Kubota tractor and what was the brand.

Frankly, I can't recall anyone ever reporting a bad experience with Kubota transmissions, regardless of the fluid used. Agreed, TBN folks are not set up to do a scientific study... all they can do is report their opinions and experiences.
There are folks that recommend a UOA (used oil analysis) to identify and resolve problems early. Might be a useful thing to do first time you change oil on your new/used Kubota... will tell you your starting status anyway. If you are the fussy type, go with pure Kubota fluids. If less fussy, use the Tractor Supply fluid...making SURE that the stuff you use DOES list UDT on its compatibility list.

There are WAY more than 7 pages on the subject!
Most of the real concerns (and debates) are for tractors with hydrostatic transmissions. Oil grade might be less critical on gear tractors.

*There is one thread on here about a guy who trashed his tranny by putting the wrong fluid in it and voided the warranty.
Now he gets to foot the very very expensive repair bill.
