Anyone know what base list prices are on TZ series tractors? I'm looking for something larger than a garden tractor (we've been beating up a Craftsman for 3 years now and it's starting to give out). We've been looking at the TZ18 with a mower to start out with, other implements likely to come later. Right now we are trying to do more with the mower than it was designed for - hauling loads of Horse manuer, mowing tall grass, dragging small trees, etc.

We have about 2 acres of grass to mow, a lot of fence line to keep up, hay to move... we already have a larger David Brown tractor but this tends to be too big sometimes and to garden tractor too small. any suggestions?

Jef,

Welcome to TBN. I think your questions can be answered better if you go back and fill in your profile. List doesn't mean much and prices vary from area to area. If we know your where abouts then people in your area can tell you roughly what you would expect to pay. Based on the information you gave us you may want to look on the price comparison to the next model up and get more horsepower. Sometimes there isn't much difference in price. I would also look at the TC24DA or I think they have even come out with a new model the TC23DA which is in the next larger frame and you may find the price is not them much difference especially if you can find a new TC24DA on the lot some place as dealers will want to move it.

Thanks for the suggestions Murph. I've been calling around the last couple of weeks talking to dealers. I knew there would be a difference in price between dealers, but I didn't think it would be that much. Quotes I've recieved in my area are around $10,500 for the TZ18DA with a 54" MMM. But I have also been talking to another dealer who can offer the same for $9,400. We've also been looking at the TZ18DA with MMM and FEL - the prices have varied even more one place was 12,500 and the other 14,500. All have the same specs. We're not looking to do lots of major work with the smaller machine (18 vs. 25), the FEL would just be very useful, what ever we get will end up cutting the grass 90% of the time anyhow.

The TZ18 with a 54" MMM for $9400 is a darn good price. They usually go for at least 10K with a MMM.

One idea before you make your decision, the TZ22 and TZ25 have opt Auto FWD (Sensitrak). I don't have one, but I hear that this is great if you have a wife or kids who will be operating the tractor.

Hope this helps.
