I have a 2320 John deere, I have been debating on getting a set of 2 link chains for the back when I snowblow my driveway. We have had a lot of ice and freezing rain this year in Northern Maine. After doing some searches online I see alot of cable style chains that have zig zag pattern when attached to the tire. Has anybody tried these chains, and what is your experience and impression of them? Should I just stay with the standard 2 link chains? I seem to be having a hard time to find chains for this tire size 31x13.50-15NHS. Does anyone know of site I can buy chains of this size without breaking the bank? Thanks for your help
Dale 1995 I have used old car or truck chains . Made my own. cut cross link into and then welded it on the side of the 8 9 or 10 link crosslink put the side link back on ready to use.
Been using these for last 4 winters. had them on my 2210 and now on the 2305
Chains help , on turf or r4 or tractor tread.

Mostly due to the fact that they seem to be the lightest type of chains used mostly for passenger cars with limited wheel clearances. I suppose with heavy enough cable no reason it couldn't work but all heavy equipment I've ever seen uses real chains. Other attraction of cable chains for cars is ease of removal/install but on a tractor they are usually on for the winter so less of an issue. I'd use real chains; tirechains.com doesn't even list cable chains as an option for tractors - probably for a reason...
