Hi, I know. Yet another topic on Pole buildings. While searching I come across this web page on Post Beam. There a lot of things that i like about it but just don't know. I'm looking at a size of 30x60. I like not having to deal with trusses. Does any one have any comments or have used this type of system.

PS Do it yourself building construction - fast & easy.

Thanks
Russ

There are a few posts on this system with a few people who have it and like it. I've never used the system, but considered it a few years ago. It was more expensive then I thought possible, and they were very slow to reply to emails. I also didn't like the way all the weight of the lumber was stressed at the ends of the metal brackets. I think it's also called the "socket system"

A truss spreads out the load throughout the entire truss. It's designes to work as a whole and force from one direction actually strengthens in in other directions.

If you really want to open, clear span, then I'd go with metal. I'm sure they are engineered and will last, but it's not something that compared well to wood trusses in my opinion.
