CK30 HST with FEL
Hello all

I have done a search for "grease" and not found what I was looking for.
What type of grease to use in the grease fittings?

We have had the CK30 for 3 months and just 28 hours. I want to make sure it is well greased.
We have cut lots of grass with the finishing mower, moved some dirt around, lifted a few rocks from the lawn and now I am in the field with a sickle mower try to get it cut. It's been about 5 years and the old grass/hay is high a thick. More time off the machine last night then on.

Thanks

I use the "high pressure" grease.

For a bushing application such as this I use lots of whatever grease is available. I have used the EP and now use the standard grease. Your owner's manual calls out a NGLI 2 or similar grease rating requirement.

Really though, just don't let them dry up. Overgreasing won't hurt anything except make a mess.

My CK30 came new with light and buttery grease and not with the thick EP type. It is much easier to add and clean the non-EP stuff.

I just use a moly fortified lithium grease. It is available almost everywhere and costs maybe a buck more than non moly grease. You certainly don't need the moly for most of the fittings but for the FEL it is appropriate and it's easier to just keep one type of grease on hand so that is what I do.

I tend to overgrease and pay the price in ruined clothes and being hollered at by SWMBO but it is better for the machine than undergreasing. Anyone got a method for removng grease stains from nice cotton shirts and jackets? Greasing also forces you to do a "walk around" inspection of the tractor which is a good thing too. I hit every zerk on the tractor about once every 8hrs of engine time.

Your clothes get in the way like mine do and then the yelling starts on wash day. :) What seems to work better than any of those spray and wash products is regular GoJo hand cleaner. Wipe the worst part of the grease off then rub in the hand cleaner. Plaster it on good rubbing it into the material and let it sit for an hour before you throw it in the wash. 90% of my "mistakes" have been cleaned with GoJo.

Read some threads here on greasing.. I believe you'll want to grease more often than 28hrs. Plus the longer you wait, the more difficult it can be if dry grease and grinding metal gets stuck in the grease holes..

If you have a compressor get an air grease guy, very handy. Be careful though as there are different types and the crappy ones just give a small squirt with each squeeze of the trigger which is a nuisance.

I'm thinking you CAN OVERGREASE the main bearing in the middle of the front axle area, might hurt some seals.

Thanks for the replies.
I have been greasing often and just wanted to check on type of grease folks are using. I have not lifted the front end yet to try to get grease in the front axle zerk. Maybe this weekend.:)

Cheers

Ya, Go-Jo works well and we also use Super Clean; it's a liquid, so just sprays on, which makes it easier to use than the Go-Jo for larger areas. It comes in a purple gallon jug and is available at most NAPA stores. I also use it on small engines, etc. as a degreaser. Bio-degradeable, so there is no significant eco-impact
