TYM T503, 1962 Case 530 Case-a-matic
On my T503, I have an angled piece of steel that is basically mounted on the floor, that can engage and lock my clutch lever in place, when it is fully depressed. The only place in the manual that I can find a reference to this "Clutch Lock lever" is during the manuals discussion about "Long Term Storage".

Anyone know why I would want to lock the clutch lever in the depressed position? What does it accomplish?

Thanks

If the tractor is stored a long time in a damp area the clutch disc can rust itself to the flywheel or pressure plate. With the pedal locked down there isn't pressure holding the center disc tight to the other two parts. So each of the three parts may get rusty but they don't rust together as one part. If that happens most times it means splitting the tractor and getting a new clutch. $$$

I had actually read that in my tractor's manual - though not in that amount of detail. My concern in doing that is having the springs weaken to the point where the clutch slips in use. Not living in a particularly damp area I have not held the clutch pedal down when tractor is parked for the winter. So far, no issues.
