Don't try....If you're gonna hook up to your hyd system rather than and PTO hyd pump you will have that hyd oil hotter than a $2 pistol on the 4th of July...The 00 series tractors have a separate hyd res. from the trans. I think the 6000 actually hold less than 4 gallons in the res. The PTO pump res holds about 12-15gal. Folks will tell you that if the unit requires 11 gals/minute (which the 511 does) then you need that much reserve oil in your res. I know a bunch of folks use the hyd system on the tractor, but I like the PTO unit.... Good luck and thank your lucky stars that you aren't gonna be the one to have to put that subframe on. It took me and 3 VERY GOOD FRIENDS with a darn good impact wrench about 4 or more hours to do that.....however, I now know how....HUGS,,,BobG in VA

Remember hers is a 20 series though....I think she has a bigger reservoir.

Don't worry, I won't be doing that. But I will be adding a few hours each day. I had elbow surgery on the 5th and the surgeon said don't over do it, after I mentioned the backhoe controls should take less the then the 5 pound lifting restriction he gave me.
The manual says the 6520 4WD has a 7.43 gallon hydraulic and transmission capacity. I will just have to keep checking the hyd. lines (as with the hyd. PHD) to see if the "heater" is on high. I will make it a habit, like checking the trailer's wheel hubs (My Dad and I once had a wheel bearing fire! ) each time I stop. Is the PTO pump reservoir right under the operator's seat? I talked with the salesman about the PTO pump option, but decided to go with tractor hydraulics. If the lines do get a little warm, what about cycling the loader a time or two?

Not sure if cycling the FEL will do anything. You'll know when the oil is getting "tepid" as you will start to smell it, not a burning smell, but warm....when you smell it you'll know it. I get that after a couple hours (in the summer) on the hoe even with the PTO pump. Yeah, you're over the pump, but you only have to run the PTO a little above idle (about 1100 on the tach), the res. is under your feet...

I dont find that the hyd oil gets terribly hot with BH on my 7520. Since youre not moving theres no transmission heat and the engine is just loafing running the pump. The massive tractor frame pulls the heat out of the oil and radiates it. The oil seems to get to about 150-160F after long term. You can touch the fittings but wouldnt want to hold em!

Bradco wants $925 and that is with their thumb backplate already welded on my hoe's dipperstick.

It really is outragous what Bradco is getting for these things. $800.00 last year and now $925 this year for 150 pounds of steel. Wish my income could go up like that!

I will be getting a Bradco thumb. Bradco's thumb teeth mesh with it's 18, 20, and 24 inch buckets, but the thumb can be stored on the BH when not in use. So it is cheaper for the Bradco thumb and I can bolt on a hydraulic kit later if I choose. The Bradco thumb is a kit, so I will have an extra backplate. So I will use the 12 inch for digging stumps and sewer lines and the 24 inch bucket for everything else. I will just have to wait and see how the thumb and 12 bucket will work.

I'll be interested in what you think of the Bradco fixed thumb. I'm debating whether I should go with the Bradco fixed thumb at that staggering price or if I should buy an aftermarket hydraulic thumb for about the same price or less. I've been looking for a used or surplus Bradco thumb for 7 months now without a hint of luck. Bradco keeps insisting that it's all about how the thumb meshes up with the bucket teeth... implying that anyone else's thumb might harm the BH. Hmmmm...

Anyway, do keep us informed!

It did cost me another $100 for crating & shipping though.
At that time there were two new thumbs up for auction from differant sellers.
The other one was a bit more and I don't think it even sold.
If I see any up for sale anywhere I'll give a heads up here on the forum.

I am still waiting on the thumb. I think I might be able to get it Monday, as it is in at a freight dock in Houston. I have been digging up some mighty big stumps and dragging them up into the boom and carrying them. It is a little wet here to do any dirt work except dig up stumps. I have tried to move some dirt, but the springs keep draining where I need to remove the dirt. Anyway, I will attach a photo of my 6520 with my trailer and truck. The 6520 is really a heavy load.

Great photo!!! Makes for perfect Windows "wallpaper" because of the fog effect... I can still clearly see my desktop icons! Very nice indeed!!!

I love the red on red on red... and that magnificent 511... and now I'm jealous that I don't have a trailer nearly so nice. Although I'll bet you could get three of mine for what that one cost! The whole set-up is nothing short of "First Class"!

Thanks guys! I picked up the thumb today. It is three times bigger than I pictured it to be.....and three times heavier. WOW, it was fun to install. I had to pull off the 12 inch bucket and install the 24 inch bucket (for the first time) which wasn't bad. But the thumb pivots on the bucket pivot pin and is made of two huge slabs of 3/4 thick steel teeth. It was a chore to get lined up. I had to make a bullet bolt to line of the pin so the retainer bolt would line up. I will be leaving the 24 inch bucket on until I dig sewer lines, because to change a bucket, the thumb comes off also. The 2 foot bucket really digs faster than the 12 inch bucket. I like it, but don't care to manually stow and unstow the thumb. Especially after digging in the mud. The pins were covered in the muck. I can see a hand getting pinched. I will be pricing a hydraulic kit real soon.

If you build a swivel knuckle, then just put quick connects on the bucket cylinder. Remove the bucket, install the digger. It will hang plumb. Remove those hoses from the bucket cylinder and attach to the hydraulic digger. Use the bucket digging lever on your right hand joystick to run the auger. You'll only need short hoses and no extra valve. Of course if you ran it all day, you will build some heat and might want bigger hoses, but a PHD is used for a minute or two, then the tractor is moved, then used again, etc. Heat shouldn't be a problem. We have done this.

Well, the hydraulic post hole digger came with a swivel knuckle, but the attach hole for the 1 & 3/8 inch diameter pin on the dipper stick was too small. I had the knuckle modified for $115, which I think was high, but Danuser wanted $199 for the swivel knuckle to fit my dipper stick. I just finished clamping the lines back after installing quick disconnets today. I didn't think to have 5-6 inches removed from the lines, as that is what the new fittings and quick disconnects added. It took awhile to figure the right place for the line flexing at the dipperstick pivot. I finally drilled holes and installed aircraft line clamps and spacers and clamped both lines together above the disconnects. Anyway, I didn't have any leaks and CRC spray on brake cleaner (used as a degreaser & cleaner) eats paint. I usually use LPS electical contact cleaner, but Graingers was out. Attached is a photo of the installation. I will have to add a rubber chafe strip under the disconnects while in transport position, as they rub the dipperstick. Right now they are wrapped in leather.
Oh yeah, my aluminum diamond plate canopy fianlly came in. Attached is a photo of the canopy.
