Two Used BXs - 23 & 24 - Good Prices?

2005 BX23, R4 tires, 12" hoe bucket, 140 hrs. $12250 Warranty -not sure if any left.

2007 BX24, R4 tires, 12" hoe bucket, 60" MMM, power front angle blade, ballast box, some warranty left (not sure how much) 152 hrs., $16500

Both are local private parties and both are in extremely good condition. Southwestern PA locations.

Would want a mmm, so I'd have to consider the price of adding one to the 23. The blade and ballast box aren't really needed so I'd probably look to sell them if I bought the 24.

You saw both of those machines on the Pittsburgh link with Craig's list. I spied them too.

The BX23 is a guy from North Huntiington, PA. I have exchanged emails with him on implements and various tractor items. He's seems very legit, and he runs across a number of different items to sell on CL all the time. Don't know how he gets them all, but again he gets them. I know from the past the machines he gets are used commerically. Not that thats bad, but thats what he gets.

I guess it will boil down to personnal preference of what you want to spend vs what to buy. I would say either machine will do just fine. As for the extra implements that aren't wanted, like you said, just sell them.

Why not see if you can buy the BX23 and the MMM from the BX24?
Also keep in mind with a 7% finance charge on these used tractors you may have more in one of them than the cost of a new BX24 with no finance charge equiped with the attachments you realy want .

Yes, you are correct; that's exactly why I've asked for pricing opinions on these used ones. I want to compare them with the pricing I get from a dealer for new.

As for buying the MMM from the 24, that guy won't split up the package.

I wouldn't either.

Both sound like OK deals...won't set the world on fire. I probably wouldn't consider the 2007...too close to new pricing. The 2005 would sound interesting if you didn't want the MMM for this season. You could bide your time and find one at your leisure. Worst case, order it from Kubota and break up the costs, at least.

If you are OK with the BX23 for $14,500, then get the 2005 and immediately order a new deck. Otherwise, I'd buy new given the choices.

I was thinking the same guy owned both tractors hince the reason for the suggestion.

The mower for the BX24 was not designed to fit on the BX23.

Forgot one item - the BX24 has a toothbar installed.
Item update - the BX24 has about 1 year of warranty remaining, the BX23 has none.
Using the "Build My Kubota" feature, the BX24 lists out at about $21000 with all attachments.

You can do better than MSRP. I'll bet you'd get a lot closer to $17,000 than you think on a new machine. Just pop by a dealership.

Just noticed taht the 2007 has the power front blade. Hmmm...interesting. That changes things a bit. Real shame it doesn't have the mower. If the guy took $15,500 or even $15,750, that'd start to look REALLY attractive. Unless you don't care about the front dozer blade.
