Twine versus net for rounds

Where I live very few 5ft wide rd balers are sold or utilized to bale hay.

Only way that would happen is of you applied multiple wraps of net on a bale (more than 3) and that would defeat and negate any time difference between net and twining.

All things equal one can bale about 25% more hay with net than twine if adequate twine is applied to bale. So net requires less time, less fuel, less wear on tractor/baler & less operator labor. On 5.5 diameter bales net requires me around 8 seconds from time buzzer sounds off to stop tractor until baling starts again after bale is ejected from baler. Utilizing twine takes about 35-40 seconds for same task if twine is placed around 4'' apart. I'l bet I could put 4-6 wraps of net on a bale in less than 10 or 12 seconds if I desired which I definitely don't because 2 wraps is fine with me!!! I have 1 carryover oat bale in my stack lot baled in 2017 that net is still good on it & it's far from mulch hay BUT I'm in Texas.

That is classified information.

Not really. Could be 1000 or less depending on how many small squares I run. This year was very light due to the weather, only 700 and I sold all but 60 of them. Kept the 60 for my stock. It's a hobby for me. Expensive hobby.
