Twin Tours TV show

hey ... other than the fact we got transmitters and receivers (for the TV) ... I don't know a whole lot either, Bird. But I have been exposed to this "it's VHS but it don't work in your country" stuff a lot in my travels offshore.

And I know EXACTLY what you're talking about with the post office and forms. The town where I curently reside has a lot of us Canadians living here so they're no problem ... but anywhere else I've been gets realk interesting when I mail stuff to Canada or to my brother in Holland. Makes you realize how insular life in the US of A can be ...

Re: Twin Towers TV show

Bird, I keep forgetting to mention that I, too, watched that show and I found it extremely interesting. I wondered what the technical aspects of the construction were like that cuased that dramatic failure and the show explained it all.
I was very surprised to learn how old the towers were .... imagine using a 707 as the "norm". Makes you wonder if anything standing now would survive such a nutcase atack.

Bird

Sounds like she had a ball trying to work out how to send that tape. Sounds like we have ALL learned something.

Regarding the PAL/NTSC thing: - I recall seeing these things mentioned in the instructions for all our TV's VCR's etc. Don't ask me to find one now, but I suspect I may be able to watch either.

Give it 6 weeks or so and we'll all find out and learn something again !!

Cheers

Well the VCR Arrived today !! Only took 11 days which is incredible. It takes 3 days for mail from my town to get to Brisbane, our capital which is 640km away !!!!

I have yet to watch the show, but yes, the tape plays fine on my VRC, so all the PAL/NTSC crap must be a lot of hogwash. Although maybe you guys in the states are finallt catching up with the way we do things over here in OZ /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

Anyway, thanks Bird for sending the tape. I am sure I will enjoy it.

Now I have your address you are never safe ....

eee eee eee eee eeee (Sound of Psycho type shower scene music)

Cheers all

I think Bird, and Texas, needs a kangaroo ranch! I can see it now....Bird is so successful raising kangaroos that they over run his place and escape into the wild where they replace the native deer population. We could all get rich if we got in on the ground floor importing roo bars from OZ to sell to the oil millionaires to protect their Cadillac trucks!

No, no, Chuck, I don't want anything else that has to be fed, washed, or painted./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Cool .... I'm glad I worried for nothing.
I'd be interesting in knowing what kind of VCR you have .... I'll get one for my brother in Holland ... who spends a fortune to get PAL converted to NTSC so he can ship tapes over here.

The VCR I have is just an el-cheapo Sharp $200 special !!!

I really enjoyed watching the show and learned a lot. I am in construction so it was relevant. We don't build much like that over here, using reinforced concrete instead. Maybe that's not such a bad thing in hindsight.

I did like watching the US adds. I thought our adds were crap but boy, yours take the cake.

There was an add for Australia in there and it was the typical "Throw a shrimp on the barby" type add.

You guys would probably be shocked to know that we cull kangaroos over here as they can be a pest, the they are all over the place as roadkill, but I bet they make out thet are some sort of special fluffy animail to you.

Don't get me wrong, they are a nice animal, and are protected, but numbers can get too high in areas so they are culled.

Anyway, was a great show and very grateful for Bird sending it over to me. I will tell my colleagues about it, but those with Pay TV may possibly see it soon??

Cheers
