Tuthill 15GPM pump not working

Anyone ever had trouble with their tuthill (FILLRITE) 12v pump?

I've had one for over 5 yrs worked great til the other day dead.

Just put testers on it and getting juice to the switch and past just not working?

Any ideas before I tear into it or look to replace?

Does it sound like the motor is turning but just not pumping or does it just not make any noise at all? If it's spinning but not pumping then I would say you either have a restriction not allowing fuel to get to the pump or the vanes in the pump are no longer working. If no noise then I would take it apart and try to where the wires attach to the motor. Measure for power there, if you have power then it's most likely the motor died. I think you can buy brushes separately but you'll have to do a search with your model number. You may want to take the pump side apart and make sure it spins freely. The starter on my side by side started making weird noises then just stopped. The magnets in the motor broke free and were grinding on the armature. Once removed it wouldn't spin freely so I replaced it.

I have no sound at all. Got power to the switch 12.5v. Called tuthill and tech thinks it's the thermocoupler.

Have one ordered and will give that a shot, $5 part better than a $300 pump.

We have a dozen or more of those pumps at work. The switches go bad, as do the thermal overload. But.... The motors do wear out, and a burned up switch has been the sign the motor is on its last legs in at least 3 I've replaced in the past 6 months. But these pumps are pumping hundreds of gallons a month, fueling dozers and other equipment daily.

Doubt mines worn out only fills the 12 gal tank every other week thats it.

One thing I would check is the pickup tube in the tank. Some have had them crack and/or shear off, especially if they are PVC/plastic.

Well something in the motor died.

Got a replacement pump only for $150 so not too bad, back up and running with s few spare parts now just in case.
