I always buy a bottle of white wine...Chablis or Chardonnay and I inject the whole bird ...all over...with the contents of the whole bottle...Now keep in mind all of the alcohol cooks over during the roasting but the gravy made from the juices in the pan is delicious and the Turkey is extremely moist and flavorful...I started doing this 20 yrs. ago when a friend told me about it...what a difference.

Thats my intentions ... I open the wine, get drunk and burn the bird!! Just kidding, I don't care much for wine but your reciepe sounds great. Happy Thanksgiving.

That sounds like a delicious recipe! But how about splitting the wine - half for me and half for the bird:D

I've resorted to frying a bird. The confusion in a one oven kitchen is much more manageable.

But dang Brin. You've had me thinking about shooting that turkey with wine all day. Maybe next time.

Thanks Brin, that is a great idea, we always grab a couple geese for thanksgiving but am gonna try the wine injection but will try a red maybe? Have you ever tried red wine?

I use cheap boxed burgandy all the time for jerkey and smoked fish but never even thought about it for birds.

Rick - I have never tried red wine on poultry only because I was worried about discoloring the meat...but on Geese...wild game I would think it would be great...let me know...

I fry our turkey too. Seems kind of funny now because when I first mentioned doing this serval years back, wife turned thumbs down. I kept heary how good it was, so about 5 - 6 years ago I bought a fryer and small turkey along wife's big 22 pounder. When meal was over at end of day, my fried turkey was cleaned to the bones & we had close to 18 lbs. of left over baked for sandwiches. Every since, I do both 1 or 2 smoked hams and a fried turkey. Leaves the oven for the baked sweet potatoes, cassaroles, and dinner buns. Pies go in today.
