can you put turf tires on the fwd models.. I know you lose some of the traction with turf tires.. but you should not be doing damage to lawn care.. for snow removal most the time 4-6" is max at one time and I'm guessing turf tires would do just as good

ket,
I run truf tires year round, and when the winter snow arrives I put tire chains on the back rear tires only, plus when mowing steep slopes.

If you are going to use your tractor on turf, turf tires are a must. You loose some traction as compared to ags. Firestone has turf tired that will fit in a lot of cases http://www.firestoneag.com/default.asp. The big concern when changing tires on a 4WD is to maintain the rolling circumference ratio of the front tires to the back tires. Roger Scotty can probably explain this a lot better than me. He just about wrote the book over at the old club. If you change the ratio a lot you risk damaging the drive train. There are two ways to go with turfs. You can get the extra wide turfs which will require new wheels or you can get turf tires which are about the same size as the original ags and which mount on your origanal wheels.

I went with the same size replacement turf and put 16" truck tires on my front. Haven't had any problems, but haven't has much snow here in the East this winter. Even replacing ins same size is expensive without adding new wheels and the extra price for wide tires.
