Turbonator

When I was looking at the new thread about thoughts on a new fuel efficient car, a advertisement appeared for something called a Turbonator. www.turbonator.com

Has anyone used one of these? Do they work? Can you put on a diesel?

That is a scam. The only way anything that swirls the air could help is in the case of a carbureted or throttle body vehicle where you have wet flow and fuel puddling or falling out of suspension due to a poor intake tract. Diesels all have "dry" flow.

Personally I would spend the money on a K and N filter. I have heard a bunch of differnt views on these. Not much good. Lots of discussions on to much turbulence at mid to high throttle and actually causing cfm reductions. <font color="orange"> Never used it </font> But I do know that the turbo charge any car is a false or missleading statement which leads me to belive the whole theory is skewed.
There is no way that they will put anywhere near 35hp to anything. except the owners new viper /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I Never tried anything like that in my truck. But I tried one of the Tornado units in the car. (Didn't car to much what happened to that). It's a 99 Cutlas GLS with a 3.1 multiport fuel injection. As far as everyday driving it did nothing. But on a road trip to Ky. It picked up my milage from 28mpg to 34mpg. Now I haven't had a chance to go south again. But my last trip to Buffalo to see the Grand baby it got 32mpg. And it's consistant at that every trip north. Now I can't say for sure that changed the milage. But other that my normal 3,500 mile oil change. That's all I've done to the car since we bought it. It's been in the car for about a year now. Wether it changes the longevity of the car? I'll have to let you know. So don't buy anything like that on my suggestion. But that is my only experience with a similar unit. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

If you buy all those gas saving gadgets you will soon be able to start selling gas !! Serveral years ago I added up the percentages of how much gas you could save if you bought every gas saving gadgets JC Whitney had it was something like 500 %. Magnets on fuel line, thinga-ma-bobs on the spark plugs, water injection, catalytic plates under the carb, etc...

Absolutely no offense taken!!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I knew you were joking and actually had a good, funny response but I didn't want to group the rest of our USAF TBN members in with what I was going to say back to you (read - about you) and start an inter-service rivalry.
