Turbo whine....

Am I really that weird or do others actually enjoy the sound of hearing their turbine spool up/down as your RPM's fluctuate around during operation?

I wear some in ear monitors (connected to Ipod for music), which isolate a lot of noise out of my head. I then put on some Pro Ears II over the top of my ears to help isolate myself even more.

I can still hear 'stuff' through this but it's muted. I can always make out the turbo-whine and frankly, always enjoy hearing it.

Any other weirdo's care to fess up?

No turbo on the tractor but I do have one on the Dodge...I love it..to me there is no better sound than a turbo diesel doing its thing. My wife thinks I'm nuts for it too.

My hearing isn't that great, so I can never really hear a turbo spool up. I don't own a tractor with a turbo, but I had a car that was a turbo, and have worked around a lot of heavy equipment that has turbos. I just can never hear the turbo over the exhaust sound. I have heard the "huff" sound though when you let off the power and the waste gate opens up, especially on diesel pickup trucks.

No I don't think you are wierd, I personally love the smell a diesel makes when running.
