Ok you turbo Diesel geeks. (just kidding) I got a question for ya now. I started the ol Beav up the other night and lots of tiny carbon ash was blowing out of the exhaust. Whats up with that. Isn't that the kind of stuff that fouls a turbine? Also. Do you think I need to run a little lighter oil in the Beav. It seemed to take a while for the turbo to come up to idle speed. It was about 40 deg when I started it. I let it warm up for 5 min before the turbo sounded like it was spinning free. Right now Im using 15w-40. My elevation were Im at is 4700 ft. Not quiet as high up as ol rock. I would love to get a constant 8 PSI out of this little unit, but I will stay with the smokeless 4 to 6 psi.
Glad to see people talking about this project. It was alot of fun to to. And really wasn't that hard. I think everyone should turbo there tractor. I think as long as you keep away from the excess boost that most diesel engines would be ok.
Rip.
