Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has experienced a binding in the MFWD system when turning, especially when backing up.

I'm not sure where exactly it is coming from, but it makes a loud popping sound.

I took off the driveshaft shield and it seems like there may be excessive play in the splines between the driveshaft and the couplers at each end. Not sure if this would cause the problem or not, and I don't really know how much play is too much.

Anyone ever experience this?

TIA.

Jay

Sure have.

What are your ground conditions like? My tractors will bind even on semi-loose dirt or stone. It痴 gotta be real slippery or a steep hill for me to use 4WD

Hay Dude,

The ground here varies quite a bit, generally I'm not in deep mud or anything. But usually have the MFWD engaged when bucketing material from a large pile to get a good bucket full, whether its slippery or not.

Try 2WD and see if it gets the job done if its not slippery or real loose. If you slip too much, go back to 4WD when scooping, and maybe switch out of 4 when pulling away from pile, unless the bucket is so heavy the back tires lose traction.
Usually binding is from too much traction, or improperly sized tires.
