Am looking into getting a TPMS system for the new 5er in hopes of avoiding tire blow outs and shredding the body work of the new trailer. I know if one has a sudden failure it won't help, but at least if it's a semi fast one, it might let me know in time to pull over before it shreds, then I can see what caused the failure.

I am looking at the TST 507 line of internal sensors that come with the valve stems built in. Battery life is claimed to be 7 years, but no idea how to change them. I will have to call the mfr to find that out.

Has anyone ever used these or any other TST system. Opinions?

The 510 system is slightly lower when I buy the extra sensors. It comes with 2 and are $100 a pair.

Has anyone ever used the TST system, specifically the internal sensors model?

Have the 510 system with the tire stem cap type sensors, needing to send them in for rebuilds now as the batteries are dying. Caught leaking tires from nails/metal 3 times and 2 times tire coming apart internally with heat that was 10-15 degrees higher then the rest. Got the external sensors so I can put them on what ever trailer I was pulling. Think the 507 system has some external stem sensors with user replaceable batteries, not sure if I would want the inside ones.

Yea I know the tires would have to be pulled to maintain them, but they have to be pulled to replace a bad tire too. Also my tires (E rated) have rubber stems so they would at least have to be partly broken down to install steel stems.

Not sure I like the idea of something that heavy in one spot on the tire, have heard of a few rare issues of being unable to balance the tires from it. Internals cannot be that bad, all the OEM's use them, correct?
