Rake tsc county line landscape rack

Hi every one and happy new year.I picked up a county line 6 foot landscape rake off craigslist last weekend and was wondering how i can beef this thing up as i have read about the channel twisting . i was saving up to get a landpride but was surfing craigslist and found this one with gauge wheels for 250.00. I was thinking off welding a 2x3 x.250 rectangular tube across the top on both sides any one else have any ideas thanks jim

You found a great deal - especially with the guge wheels! Your idea of reinforcing with the 2x3 tube on top sounds good, except you won't be able to spin it 180 [deg] if you do. How about welding it to the web of the bottom piece? If you drill large holes through the tubes you will still be able to access both the nuts & bolts.

Thanks baby grand for advice .I didnt even thing about being able to rotate it must be the polish in me coming out.I wonder if some flat stock in the inside of channel and some angel steel on top would work .thanks jim

Since what you need to do is reduce the twisting of the beam a piece of 3x3x.250 wall tubing on the bottom would be my choice as Baby Grand suggests. I would not use angle iron or flatbar strips as these are very easy to twist, you would also find that rectangular tubing will twist more than pipe or square tubing. I think square tubing would look the best and as long as you have a way to drill the holes is the best fix.

I would say that is a rather high grade parking stand. Think I might need to look thru your scrap pile.:drool:

I made mine out of some square tubing scraps but they sure make hooking up easier.

It's not important but nice when it matches your tractor.
I have made other mods to the blade and added hydraulic angle too.
