Trying to find the transmission/hydrolic filter on a MH 50

I'm trying to figure out where the transmission/hydrolic filter is on my Massey Harris 50.

The guy that knows the old tractors at the Massey dealership said to take of the pto lever plate and it was in there. I took it the plate off and didn't see where it was, and it started raining before I could explore more with a mirror and flashlight. I went to the dealer today, but they were closed.

I also have the service manual and it doesn't mention anything about a filter.

If anybody knows about this great machine I would appreciate it.

May not be one...... Some of the later MH50's, Ferguson F40's, and earlier MF50's didn't have filters. Just a screen on the oil pick-up tube. IF there's a filter, you SHOULD be able to access it from that PTO cover plate as mentioned. It will be towards the rear, and slightly UNDER the hydraulic pump. It ain't easy to get at!

I found out a little more about it. The Massey Harris 50 had 3 different pumps on it over its production life, 2 of which did not have filters.

If it does have a filter it is located inside the pto lever access hole. Inside that hole it would be located towards the front of the tractor, down on the bottom.
