Trying to decide how big to go

/ Trying to decide how big to go #11
I am trying to some thing similar as well. I only have 6 acres of flat land with one swampy spot on the lake bank. The sensible part of me says a small CUT like the Kioti CK20 or at most a CK30 or Kubota L2800/L3400. My monster garage alternate personality wants to limit the lawn to 1 acre and use my current ZTR and gets a bigger tractor like the Deere 5205 (used) or Kubota L4400 or Kioti DK45 or Mahindra 4530. Do I need a tractor? No. My neighbor offers to bush hog for me with his big Deere and do the digging with his big TLB. Yet I envy all his /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif when I see him out on my land.

( without knowing the particular layout of your property , i will go out on a limb here and tell you NOT to mow you lawn with a big tractor. get a smaller GT decatided to lawn mowing and buy your big tractor for the rest. )

These were my thoughts when I started reading this. I have some hills which would slow me down for sure on my CK20. So for $1,000 or so, buy something like the attachment. 5 years later and pretty much like new, it gets the job done nicely. Gerard

( I have been looking at the JD 3000-20 series machines. Are these machines big enough for me? I want something capable of moving large rocks )

I would lean towards the JD 3X20 series with the 300cx FEL. It will do everything well except moving the large rocks. For that I would rent something and do all the large rock moving in a weekend/week.
For mowing around trees the 72" MMM is hard to beat. It hangs out far enough past the tires to allow you te get in close, much easier then looking over your shoulder all the time and worrying about swing radius on turns IMO. How far apart are the new trees going to be?
Make sure to get the PowerBeyond kit priced in (about $220) for the future backhoe.
