Trying to buy a tractor - 3 options has me confused on best value for my use - HELP

/ Trying to buy a tractor - 3 options has me confused on best value for my use - HELP #151
I'm about to buy a new tractor - about 39 horses. Why would I really want SSQA adapter for it if all I plan on using on the front end is the bucket or forks?

That's really a topic for another thread. Changing between a bucket and forks without SSQA is going to be a real PITA.

Alllllllrrriiiight fellas... It's been a long process but i'm happy to report that I've made a deal ... Ended up settling on $13k out the door with a few cans of touch up paint and new decals.

I need your help on deciding on a few upgrades while its there.... tooth bar installed for $400? SSQA now or later? said they could install both the adapter for $450 and new 66" SSQA bucket for $625... if i want to use my existing bucket, I can get adapter for $250... He said he would give me a $100 credit for the old bucket if i didn't want it (i actually asked for that the addtl credit)..since its bent up top and used, i figure probably not a bad deal... I dont have a welder so likely easier to just have them do it... thoughts?

also he said they'd install a WR long third while there for $1035... How good would you rank that pricing?

The bend in the bucket doesn't look bad at all. I'd probably have them do the SSQA upgrade and order a toothbar to install myself (it's easy).

Get a welder with the difference in price between the old and new bucket....you're going to need it. Once you start using a tractor, you're going to bend/break stuff. ;)

Congrats!! That was quick!
What type tooth bar? Real Heavy duty with replaceable teeth or a bolt on? Pirahna?
What type adapter? a full SSQA by Kubota? I was quoted about $600 for my M4700 for the factory SSQA last year.
That bucket looks pretty good, just need some of Ken's Hooks. I'd put an adapter plate on it and use it and definitely get the SSQA adapter for the FEL.

Pretty nice!

Long discussion, I've used clamp on forks for years.

Agreed.

Yeah, I agree. I actually think the final result will be a system without DEF. If/when that happens it will be hard to get rid of a DEF machine without a serious financial hit. :(

I don't understand all of the fuss, my one DEF tractor is no different, except smell, than my others. I don't believe it is a DEF problem as much as a human owner problem.

Go talk to a full time diesel mechanic. Anywhere. Everything with DEF is having trouble. Big trucks, pickups, tractors whatever has a DEF system. You couldn't give me anything with it on there.

If you do plan to run a bucket AND forks, you've answered your own question since it's very easy to switch between the two using SSQA. Clamp on forks (that attach to the bucket) puts the load out too far forward and you lose lift.

Just me being a cheap skate.

I'd buy a Stick welder, and practice before you reinforce the bent bucket. use a hydraulic jack and wood block, 16 lb sledge. Online, buy a true third function kit. Can of Orange spray paint.
If you have the time, why give the money to a dealer.

Good luck with the tractor.

Congrats. If it were my call, I'd get the SSQA installed on the loader and keep the bucket you've already got plus an adapter. I'd hate not having SSQA. I never have an implement mounted unless I'm using it. The tractor is more maneuverable without the bucket, and there's less stress on the front axle.

I would buy the SSQA attachment from them, buy an adapter for your bucket for 100 bucks, buy a welder, grinder and torch kit with the savings, and modify your current bucket with hooks, reinforcement, and the adapter.

Also, consider a 5-foot bucket if you will be doing woods work. My 5 1/2 footer can be a bit wide when maneuvering through my trails.

Congrats on the purchase. May it serve you well.
